How We Started

Our History
Gilman (1917-2011) and Ina (1918-2010) Marshall spent their entire lives in the North Rose area. Married for 71 years, they were active in many things around Wayne County and especially the Town of Rose and neighboring communities, where they raised their family, and founded and ran their business, Marshall Farms. Ina, originally a schoolteacher at a one-room schoolhouse in Butler, NY, always had a passion toward education. Gilman was a prominent figure in community life. He served on the School Board for many years, was active in the Boy Scouts and Rotary, and he and Ina were longtime active members of the Rose Methodist Church. Gil and Ina were passionate about making their community a great place to live and work and did so by their generous support, selflessness and kindness to everyone.
The Marshall Family Foundation; reflecting Gilman and Ina's values of family, children and community; established Marshall Park in 2008 through donations to the Marshall Community Fund. The Park, located on the outskirts of the hamlet of North Rose, has many things to offer for everyone and continues to grow over the years with the dedicated support from the Foundation. The Park is wholly funded by private donations, at no expense to taxpayers, and is made available free to the community. The Marshall Family Foundation, still comprised of Marshall family members, honor Gilman and Ina's legacy, and the values instilled in their family, by continuing to make the funding of Marshall Park a priority, along with supporting many other charitable causes in the area.
